Welcome to the first 2013 newsletter and Feliz Año Nuevo!
2012 has been a pretty positive busy year for Speak Spanish. Muchas gracias for all your support moving from one venue to another early in the year as we knew the building was not economical to repair. The good news is our new studio is ready!! We are going to have private and small classes in Avonside (close to Fitzgerald Av and Avonside Drive) and we will also be using studio 3 in Salsa Latina. One-to-one classes started back on the 7th January. Group classes will start on the week of the 28th January and 4th February. Keep reading for more details.

Coming courses…
Children + Parents courses starting 4th & 5th February
Please contact us if you want to join us after we start the course. We are taking newcomers on the second and third week too. It is an advantage to start at the beginning of the course but our topic based lessons allows ongoing enrolment and students can join up to week 3 in the term.
Children 2 & 3 years old + parents
Come to sing and play in Spanish!!! You’ll be amazed how much the little ones enjoy it! They will start recognizing the different sounds between English and Spanish. They are quite passive at this age but don’t be surprised to start hearing them saying Spanish words. The more it is a routine the better and more confident they will be. Material is supplied by the teacher for parents and children. There is no need to start on Term 1, there are 4- 5 topics in a term and all topics are different and independent.
8 weeks course – $120 (45 min class)
Children 4-5 years old + parents
Come to sing and play in Spanish!!! Interaction is more frequent between the teacher and the children when they are 4 and 5 years old. We will work in becoming more confident. It is fantastic to hear children can produce a native-like accent without hesitation. Material is supplied by the teacher for parents and children. There is no need to start on Term 1, there are 4- 5 topics in a term and all topics are different and independent.
*Talk with us if you are not able to stay with your child during the class. Grandparents and siblings are welcome to watch the class.

School age children
Children come to sing, play and do writing fun activities in Spanish!!! Again we are aiming to get the children confident in producing the language and using it in relevant tasks such as talking about themselves, their likes and dislikes, role-playing (e.g. selling and buying), their routines, some popular Hispanic celebrations and traditions. Material is supplied by the teacher. There is no need to start on Term 1, there are 4- 5 topics in a term and all topics are different and independent.
Beckenham School
Come to sing, play and do writing fun activities in Spanish!!! Again we are aiming to get the children confident in producing the language and using it in relevant tasks such as talking about themselves, their likes and dislikes, role-playing (e.g. selling and buying), their routines, some popular Hispanic celebrations and traditions. Material is supplied by the teacher. There is no need to start on Term 1 but call or send us an email to discuss your child’s age and abilities.
Adult courses starting 28th & 30th January and 4th & 5th February
We are pleased to introduce the next set of courses with more options. We are extending the classes to 10 and 12 weeks as well as continuing with our regular ongoing courses on Mondays and Wednesdays.
Beginners 1 – Tuesdays 5.30 to 7.00 05/02 to 26/03 (8 weeks – 12 hours) – at Salsa Latina $150*
Beginners 2 –Tuesdays 7.30 to 9.00 – 05/02 to 26/03 – (8 weeks – 12 hours) – at our new studio$150*
A2/ Conversation – Wednesdays regularly 7 to 8.30 pm – limited group $20 per class per person – at our new studio
Intermediate – Mondays regularly 7 to 8.30 pm – limited group $20 per class per person – at our new studio
Private tuition is available on request. Individual classes are $40 per hour. Group classes (two or more students) are $60. Please enquire about discounts for taking 10 or more private lessons.

News in slow Spanish… Gracias Margo (intermediate student) for your always interesting Spanish websites and resources. ‘News in slow Spanish’ is certainly a fantastic Free resourse online where you can read and listen to up-to-date news. There are two versions: the slow and the fast versions. If you are not a Beginner student, this is for you. You can listen to online or download them onto your computer or on i-tunes!
Free listening lessons… Do you want to listen Spanish in the car? Coffee Break Spanish has a good set of 10 audio lessons for those students who are just starting and would like to listen to recordings in Spanish. These lessons are in English and Spanish so they are best for those who are doing Beginners 1.
