Our courses have started this pass week. We are happy to have Beatriz, Carolina and Celia in our team. This is the third year Speak Spanish is teaching in Christchurch!
We have new exciting classes this year to accommodate those who would like to practise and speak more Spanish or those who for several reasons cannot commit to classes: online courses (AVE from Instituto Cervantes) , conversation classes for beginners, private classes, in-company classes and after school Spanish options.
Children + parents – Spanish for families – Free workshop
Meet us in our stall in Culture Galore a free event organised by the Christchurch Council in Ray Blank Park in Maidestone, Ilam.We’ll be running a free workshop for Children + parents 1.55 to 2.15pm. Come along and try our class!
Beginners 1 – Tuesdays 6.30 – 8.00pm
There are spaces available in this class. We are talking enrolments up to the third week of the course. This is a great opportunity for those who have done Beginners 1 before but couldn’t finish the course for any reason. If you are one of those students we are offering a 50% discount on fees.
Tuesdays 6.30 to 8.00 pm in 15 Worcester Boulevard with Beatriz.
Conversation class for beginners – drop in class on Tuesdays 8.00 to 9.00 pm
Beatriz will run a conversation class for students in Beginners 1, 2 or 3 level. This class is a drop in class and the cost is $15 per class. You will be practicing role playing (shops, traveling and meeting new people) and playing games (using the target language you’ve learnt or are learning in these 3 levels).
Every class will have independent topics, the aim of this class is to help students develop and improve their speaking skills in Spanish. The class is guided so students with basic knowledge in Spanish are able to practise their pronunciation and fluency.

Beginners 1 in Lincoln Events Centre – Meijer Drive, Lincoln
During these 3 years we had received many enquiries from students in Lincoln and surrounding areas. Some students even came all the way to our courses in Christchurch city. Beatriz will be teaching this course for absolute beginners. Please check our website for more details on what you will learn in this course.
This course starts on 5th March – 5.30 to 7.00 pm 8 weeks $150 – please enrol in our website
Materials for beginners, pre-intermediate and intermediate
There is a wide selection of materials available on our website, especially for beginners students. We highly recommend you watch the videos from Editorial Difusion, listening will help your speaking!! even though you think it is too soon to do it.
Materials for children classes
We think it is important and helpful to have some contact with Spanish during the week. Most of the songs, videos and topics we learnt in class are supported by a selection of materials on our website. Parents have told us how useful it is for their children and them to be able to have all these resources available. Children are happy to be able to show ‘dad’ what they have learnt in class or listen to their favourite song again and again.
Beckenham School – 2 options (beginners & advanced for children)
We are adding an after school new class in Beckenham School. This is an advanced class for children who have been living abroad or whose family is native from a Spanish speaking country. Classes are $120 per 10 classes (Tuesdays 4.00 to 5.00 pm).
We also have a young beginner learners class on Tuesdays 3.00 to 4.00 pm $120 per 10 classes per term.
